Dr. Peterson has an special interest in shoulder surgery, especially using the arthroscope as a tool for shoulder reconstruction. He has reported his results of various innovative arthroscopic procedures to regional and national meetings. He has written papers concerning various types of fractures, developed artificial implants for small joints (part of his Masters thesis) and is developing a curved drill for arthroscopic use. He has had extensive training in athletic knee reconstruction in addition to his training in artificial joints for arthritic hips and knees.
He is a member of various associations and societies and associations including the Arthroscopy Association of North America and the American Sports Medicine Association, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Mark Coventry Orthopaedic Association. He has served on several committees for the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery. He was Chief of Orthopaedics at Swedish Hospital from 1992 to 1997.
